Inspired by the Paris Agreement and Norwegian politicians, Arthur Buchardt wanted to create a sustainable building that reduces CO2 emissions by using wood instead of steel and concrete.
The project redefines how high-rise buildings can be constructed, with a significantly smaller environmental footprint. All the wood used is locally sourced from Ringsaker, and the building is the result of collaboration with local companies such as Voll Arkitekter, HENT, Moelven, Ringsaker Vegg og Takelement, Woodcon, Parkettpartner, and Sweco.
Mjøstårnet has received significant attention both nationally and internationally, winning awards such as the Norwegian Tech Award 2018 in the 'Building and Construction' category and gold at the New York Design Awards for 'Architecture-Mixed Use-International'.
