Mjøstårnet, the world's tallest timber building, stands proudly at 85.4 metres tall, located in the heart of Innlandet on the shores of Lake Mjøsa.
Mjøstårnet proves beyond a doubt that high-rise buildings can be constructed using local resources, local suppliers, and sustainable timber materials. With Mjøstårnet, we redefined how tall wooden structures can be built.
The building features 72 hotel rooms, conference facilities, apartments, offices, a restaurant, and, right next door, a swimming pool complex operated by Ringsaker Municipality. With a combined floor area of approximately 11,300 square metres, Mjøstårnet is as functional as it is innovative.
Not only does the hotel hold a Guinness World Record, but it has also received numerous awards and recognitions, including the New York Design Awards, the Norwegian Tech Awards, and CTBUH's Award of Excellence. And it all began with an idea, some blank sheets of paper, and a box of coloured pencils.
